Semi-Day Off

At my new job, Presidents' Day is technically a holiday.  I've never had Presidents' Day off before (for work...for college and law school, I think we did. Even if we didn't, I probably skipped classes that day anyway), but I assumed that it was like my old job. Basically, it's a "holiday" in that the staff don't come in, but attorneys are expected to work. The benefit was that you got to wear jeans.

So, I figured that was a universal thing and headed in to work this morning (in jeans, woo!). What's more, I got there at 8 am (so early) because I took my husband to the airport first. And it.was.deserted. I had some work to do so I stuck around, but I could count on one hand the number of attorneys that were there. Chalk another one up in the "Once again, I'm certain I made the right decision to join this firm" column.

I left at 12, ran some errands to the grocery store, and headed home to play more with the monster lens on my camera. I'm also working from home some (the billable hour waits for no man), but I've killed a fair amount of time creating these:

I don't think this is a carnation. But, if it is, then it's the prettiest one I've seen in a while. Pictures like this make me wish I had a room that was completely decorated in shabby chic. Instead, this photo, much as I love it, doesn't match my Tuscan/Mexican decorated house.

Roses other than red are so much easier to photograph. Yeah, that's personal experience talking.

Ode to wine.
