More from Saturday's Photo Shoot

I had to run to the grocery store on Saturday, so I picked up a few flowers while I was there. I was looking for bright, bold colors that I could eventually make in to prints to hang in my guest bedroom.

I had a full set up going on - I scoped out where the afternoon light was coming from, set up a blank background (VERY technically, too, by draping a blanket over my couch), and then figured out the best way to place the flowers to catch the light.

And then this happened:

Because obviously, any time a blanket is on the couch, I put it there for Fitz's comfort and relaxation.

This happened not once, but twice:

But I was finally able to shoo him away. Brat.

Once my background was de-dogged, I was able to get a few captures that I was happy with.

This last one is pretty non-traditional, but I love how ethereal the backlight is on the petals. I took these with my (relatively) new 50mm lens and again it proved why it was such a great choice to buy.
