MCP Project 52: 18/52 First Thing in the Morning

Honestly, "first thing in the morning" for me should be a picture of the snooze button on my iPhone. Until about 2 years ago, my husband and I were not "snooze" people. When the alarm went off, we got up. Now - we're both so busy and run on such a sleep deficit that we've succumbed to the allure of 9 more minutes' sleep.

With my goal in mind of looking for inspiration and new ways to photograph my regular things, here is this week's submission.  It's more like fourth thing in the morning (behind brushing teeth, putting on robe, and walking dogs), but it's done...every morning.

Watering my herbs. Every morning (unless it rained overnight). I grow parsley, basil, chives, oregano, mint, and rosemary. And my rosemary is extremely hardy - it lasted, uncovered, throughout the crazy winters that we've had for the past two years.

But, during the Texas summer, I have to water my herbs before the sun rises every morning. And often again when I get back home from work. Or else I won't have (live) herbs for very long.

And unfortunately, my basil is being eaten alive by some critter, so I couldn't take any good pictures of it. But I'm in the process of eradicating whatever is munching on it (organically, no less!) so hopefully it will be thriving again soon.
