In Which JJ Travels to Austin

As you probably guessed by the title, I was in Austin this weekend. TH and I headed down for his little sister's college graduation. I went to law school in Austin and I'm always excited to get back. It's definitely my favorite city in the South and probably pretty high up there in favorite cities overall (I know, I know, very provincial. I don't care).

We were there Wednesday night through Sunday morning and our schedule was jam packed. We had "something" to do almost every minute that we weren't sleeping. Some of what we were doing was golfing - and for the first time ever, TH golfed as a two-some. We had time to goof off and basically use it as an excuse to drink a lot while we golfed in the rain.

One of the problems with drinking while golfing is the lack of restroom facilities.  Fortunately for TH (and unfortunately for me...), lack of proper facilities isn't such a huge deal. That's not what's happening here, though -- he's just looking for his ball.

Rim shot!

While looking for his lost golf ball, TH almost stepped on this. In case you think it's not that dangerous - this snake was about 30 feet from the course and when I walked up to take the picture, a very distinctive rattling occurred.

(Don't worry Mom, this picture is zoomed in. I wasn't this close to a rattle-snake).

TH teeing off. You can see it's pretty dreary out there. It was ridiculously humid and basically drizzled, then poured, then was just miserable, then drizzled again the entire time. I felt...sticky...afterwards.

But this is the view from the first tee. And that is why I love Austin.
